Welcome to Olimito, Texas

Our hosts... Linda and Paul Hemphill

(Please note: Placing the cursor over a picture gives you some info on it....)

On November 10, about 60 PSST members and guests (four of whom became members) gathered in the colorful back yard of Paul and Linda Hemphill in Olmito, just north of Brownsville. Their yard is filled with a multitude of unusual items of art, pottery, plants, and palms. Our generous hosts provided a delicious Mexican buffet lunch, and members brought an array of desserts to complement the meal.

A major highlight of the meeting was a performance by the Estudiantina de Lopez, a group of 12 teenagers and their director, who played instruments and sang Mexican songs during the lunch. PSST voted to make a donation to this outstanding musical group.

After lunch, a raffle was held. Linn Keller, Ludi Snyder, and Suzie Watson were the lucky winners of three colorful Talavera iguanas. A short business meeting followed, with Suzie Watson explaining all the details of the up coming Christmas party in Sarita. After more visiting and looking over the gardens, some members drove a few blocks down the street to the house owned by Richard Travis—the front yard is filled with many species of palms.

The next meeting will be the Christmas party at the Kenedy Ranch Museum in Sarita on December 8.
