Welcome to the Molina's in Brownsville

 out hosts

Approximately 45 PSST members gathered on a perfect fall afternoon in the beautifully landscaped back yard of Lloyd and Elena Molina in Brownsville. Our generous hosts provided a delicious Mexican lunch of fajitas, tortillas, beans, rice, and salads. The other members brought an amazing selection of desserts. After everyone was well-filled, a short business meeting was conducted by Ed Ladd and John Dillard. John introduced our guest speaker for the day-former PSST member Jorge Lozano who now works at a nursery in El Campo. Jorge received his university degree with emphasis on diseases of palms. He presented a very informative listing of palm diseases, complete with photos that he had taken.

Lloyd and Elena also provided two beautiful palms to be given as door prizes. The drawing produced two winners: Carol Farrald and Greg and Nery Vail. Romeo Montalvo gave a brief update on the Brownsville Botanical Garden; Romeo also brought numerous seedlings and palm seeds to give away to members. The new issue of the fall Bulletin was distributed to those present. Our new editor, Louis Forrai, did a fine job with the Bulletin. After more social interaction, members began to depart for their homes.

The next meeting will be our annual Christmas party at the home of Guille Galonsky in Brownsville on December 17. Members were reminded to be on the lookout for palm-related gifts for the exchange.
