On May 16, an outstanding turnout of 75 members met at the impressive home of Romeo and Linda Montalvo in Brownsville. The hosts provided a complete Mexican luncheon along with various beverages, and members brought a wonderful array of desserts. A TV reporter from Channel 5 ABC attended and filmed much of the proceedings.

During the business meetings, the new PSST officers were presented and elected by acclimation. The new Chairman is Darryl Smith of Corpus Christi , the new Coastal Bend Vice-Chairman is John Purcell also of Corpus Christi , and the new Treasurer/Membership Chairman is Betsy McWhorter of Brownsville . They will begin assuming their duties in June. All of this was conducted by outgoing Chairman Jon Watson.

The final event of the afternoon was the annual spring auction. The huge number of plants contributed by members brought in more than $1,000 to the PSST treasury. This was sorely needed since the society had made several recent contributions, including the Sabal Palm Sanctuary which now is also the home of the PSST Chairmensí bench. Obviously this was a very successful meeting!

Hope to see you at the next meeting!
