inviting pool Approximately 55 members and guests gathered at the beautiful, resaca-side home of Barry and Georgina Putegnat in Brownsville on May 24. A delightful breeze made sitting and eating on the expansive covered patio very enjoyable. Our guests have spent a full year landscaping their large property, and there are many beautiful palms. Georgina prepared the entire lunch herself—a Mexican feast with chips and dips, fajitas, refried beans, rice, slaw, creamed corn with poblano peppers, and dessert. She commented that she frequently cooks for at least 60 people. A full bar was also available.

After the bountiful meal, a short business meeting was held. This was followed by our annual spring auction with Darryl Smith holding forth as auctioneer. The auction was a success with many people going home with palms, plumerias, and other tropical plants. After touring more of the impressive yard, members began their journeys home.

The next meeting will be at the home of President Jon and Suzi Watson on the Island in Corpus Christi on June 28.
