tropical foliage... On a warm and sunny afternoon we had 43 members and guests gathered at the beautiful home and garden of Jon and Suzi Watson. Their home is situated on one of the water inlets to the bay on Padre Island. It's a beautiful set up for a tropical-Texas setting! Jon has an extensive collection of rare palms (tropical & subtropical) and has managed to surround the home in their beauty! As members arrived they toured the grounds and socialized with friends. Before you knew it, it was time to sit in comfort and enjoy a meal together! Jon and Suzi put out a fabulous spread and members donated side dishes and desserts! Per the norm, there was a lot of food for everyone to enjoy!

After the bountiful meal, we had a society meeting where we went over up coming meetings, treasury report and future plans. Announcements were made by members, to include the giving away of palms and plants brought to the meeting. Additionally, Jana provided a demonstration on how to make a refreshing tropical drink with a fresh coconut! After the demonstration, members mingled about and enjoyed the gardens and the palmy conversations with friends.

Our next meeting will be at the nursery of Chuck & Caydee Caldwell in Rosenberg on July 19. Hope to see you there!
