Welcome to the home of Danny and Kathy Payton in Harlingen

large inviting pond...

Payton Place—this was the setting for the July PSST meeting hosted by Danny and Kathy Payton. They have completely revamped their yard with ponds, fountains, ducks, lots of palm trees and other plants, and a huge covered patio next to the swimming pool. Everyone was grateful for the shade on the patio on a hot afternoon. Our hosts provided delicious hamburgers with all the trimmings, guacamole and chips, and a variety of drinks. Members brought a fine array of salads, sides, and desserts. After the 37 members and guests in attendance had had their fill of food, a short business meeting was held under the uidance of President Jon Watson. Ed Ladd brought two Washingtonia and two queen palms for a drawing. Lloyd Molina won the Washingtonias and Glenn Head won the queens. A third drawing garnered Lloyd and Elena Molina free PSST membership dues for 2013. Future meetings were discussed (six meetings for 2013 have already been set). Our hosts said this meeting was so much fun they want us back in September next year! Suzie Watson discussed plans for this year’s Christmas party at the Kenedy Ranch Museum in Sarita on December 8. Many members walked across the street to tour the yard and gardens of John and Mary Barkkari. Just after most members had left for home, an unexpected rain storm brought the perfect ending to a great meeting. The next PSST meeting will be held on August 25 at the home of Jon and Suzie Watson in Corpus Christi.
